July 30, 2015

ANA (All Nippon Airways) announced at the beginning of this month the introduction of ‘ANA Baggage Drop Services’, Japan’s first of its kind.

The self-service bag-drop machines will be available for passengers flying domestically and departing from the airline’s hub at Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Terminal 2.  The airline has been investing in enhancing the travel experience for its passengers and this is the latest technology advancement introduced. The machines are conveniently situated next to the airline’s automated check-in machines, which make lines shorter for passengers.

Tetsuo Fukuda, ANA Executive Vice President of CS & Products Services, Corporate Planning stated the following: “At ANA, we continuously strive for the highest global standards of service, in order to enhance convenience for our customers. We are proud to offer the first automated baggage drop stations in Japan; this is the latest offering in our mission to create a seamless check-in process for our guests, and we plan to roll out more services in the months to come.”

The current services on the machines will be provided in different languages including English, traditional and simplified Chinese, and Korean in order to accommodate all foreign visitors to Japan. These efforts follow what many other airlines are doing in order to improve the passenger experience and stand out from other airlines. ANA carried 39.3 million passengers domestically and nearly 7 million passengers internationally in 2014 (IATA) and carries roughtly 4 million passengers monthly (Flightglobal). ANA is also Japan’s biggest airline and ranks in at number 15 worldwide (IATA). ANA offers print, TV and audio advertising opportunities, with IFE provided on ALL international flights.
