September 30, 2015

Olympics 2016

Brazil expects an additional 2.34 million passengers from the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro next August. Traffic is expected to peak on 5 August 2016 – the first day of the Olympics – with 90,000 arrivals, according to figures released by the country’s secretariat of civil aviation.

Departures will peak at 95,000 on 22 August, the day after the games end!

To prepare for the event and significant increase in passenger traffic, the secretariat is proposing a number of operational plans that will affect 39 airports in the country.
