IATA has just released its “World Air Transport Statistics 2016”. According to IATA, the number of air passengers in 2015 was 3,5 billion and has increased to 3,7 billion in 2016. 5,1% growth was recorded each year between 2012 and 2016.

Each day, there are around 9.8 million air passengers, of which 5.83 million are international and 3.97 are domestic.

34% of travelers to Europe are from its own continent. Asia Pacific is the leading source market of travel to Europe (31%). Middle East and North America equally contribute 14% of total travelers to Europe. Latin America and Africa account for 4% and 3% respectively of the total passengers to Europe.
